Today, two of the class, Thistle and Crofter, took the digital camera and made their way round the school, taking pictures of things that they thought might be interesting to show to everyone in Kuvansin koulu. We hope you enjoy seeing around Yester, and perhaps you can imagine what it would be like to be here!
The front entrance to the school.
We all come in to school through the front door.
The playground to the front
This is part of our playground, at the front of the school, looking north.
Part of the playing area
We are able to play games on the grass here, like football, or just run around. This is looking south, with some of the classes shown.
Yester's Totem Pole!
We have our very own Totem Pole, which one of our classes made two years ago! Do you have anything like this in Kuvansi?
Our Headteacher, Mrs Hilsley
Mrs Hilsley is always busy in her office. She did have time to smile for the camera today though!
Carol in her office
Carol, our school secretary, ensures that all the behind-the-scenes work is carried out without any problems.
Alan, the jannie!
This is Alan, our janitor, who makes sure that everything from the heating, to the alarm works smoothly in the school.
Our International Education display board
This display shows which schools we have links with across the world. As well as links with Kuvansi, we have links with a school in France, and a school in South Africa.
Corridor display from P6 class
Some of our P6 class created these pictures during art lessons.
The school hall
This is where we do gym, and meet together for assemblies.
The Kitchen Staff
Sylvia, in the centre, cooks really tasty food, with help from Annette and Elaine.
Library
Our school library.
Yester is an Eco-school
We are an Eco-school, which means that we do our best to take care of the environment.
Finnish-Scottish display outside our classroom
Outside the P4 and P5 classrooms, we have our Finnish-Scottish display. Note that we have made drawings of Silver Birch trees, like you did in Kuvansi!
The staffroom
This is where the staff have their coffee!
Highland Cows
Close to Gifford, there is a field with some Highland cows. They are very unusual in this part of Scotland, as they are mostly found in the north of the country.
Crocuses close to the school
These lovely flowers are always in bloom early in the year.
