Unihoc- indoor hockey...

The game is fast and furious.

Although we don't use masks to protect the faces of the goalkeeepers, perhaps they would be a very good idea, like in Finland.

Osprey has just made an attacking shot...and he has SCORED!

Unihoc- indoor hockey...

We play unihoc often in Yester. It is very popular as it is a fast game, which requires a lot of stamina and speed.

The equipment needed for unihoc is slightly different from that needed for floorball in Finland. Each team, of five players, uses a stick. The sticks are either red or yellow, to identify each team member. Instead of a ball, in unihoc a puck is used, which is brightly coloured, so it is easy to see when passing. The puck travels very quickly over the floor.

Yester plays badminton!

Yesterday, Wednesday 3rd October, our class went to the local sports centre to try badminton. We took the bus from the school to Haddington, where we met up with children from the two primary schools in Haddington. For some of the children, it was a new experience, though quite a few had played before. The children were taught various skills by students from a nearby sports college. The session lasted for 75 minutes, after which we got back onto our bus and headed back to school. The first photo shows us in the class before we left for our session, with our wall display about Finland in the background.

Kuvansi school is trekking...

Last Friday we had a five-km trek. We walked in the surroundings of our school. Autumn is here now as you see. The leaves are yellow and red and falling down.

The pupils were walking along the road.

The road became narrower.

The Finnish countryside.

We saw some cows. They were eating.

Here you can see our forest in autumn.

We became thirsty and so we had to drink some juice.

This is a path.

We had packed lunches with us. We ate rolls with ham and cheese and drank juice.

This is the nearest lake from our school.
